President Obama paid a visit today to those of us up here living in the tundra. It has warmed up just in time. Today we're seeing temps in the teens instead of the single digits we had last week ;-)
Here's what Air Force One looks like landing under those conditions.
I guess Senators Klobuchar and Franken hitched a ride home on Air Force One.
Here's what it looks like to wait in the tundra for a chance to see the POTUS.
Cheering the President inside are Senators Klobuchar and Franken, Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak, U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota (and President Obama's nominee to be ATF Director)Todd Jones, and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder.
Here is President Obama with my hometown St. Paul Police Chief Thomas Smith.
And here is President Obama greeting the first female Police Chief in Minneapolis Janee Harteau - who also happens to be openly gay.
Yep, we raise 'em right up here in the tundra. Or as Garrison Keillor says, "Welcome to Lake Wobegon - where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking and all the children are above average."
UPDATE: I've been singing Minneapolis Mayor RT Rybak's praises for a while now. There's a reason for that. For example, check this out: What We can Learn From Minneapolis' Progressive Approach to Reducing Gun Violence.

I sure hope President Obama can find a place for him, it would be interesting to find out what he is going to do after he leaves office. Have you heard anything? (Rybak) that is.
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard a thing Roberta.
DeleteBut I have a friend who is Megan's (RT's wife) cousin. Need to check in with my source and see if she knows what's up.
That would be great Smartypants. J.ust catching up on today's posts.
